The permanent exhibition "Passage Simplon" at the Stockalper Castle in Brig covers an area of approximately 200 m² and sheds light on the fascinating history of the Simplon Pass.
In six thematic sections, you will learn more about the construction of the Simplon Tunnel, the national road over the pass, and groundbreaking achievements in transportation technology. A special highlight is the first airplane crossing of the Alps by Geo Chavez in 1910. The exhibition also honors the contribution of the Brig doctor Guglielminetti, who invented the first asphalt pavement. One room is dedicated to the castle owner, Kaspar Stockalper, who gained fame and wealth in the 17th century through politics and trade.
