The space gained was freed up for the extension of the existing church. From the inside of the newly built nave, the view is directed towards the old choir in whose cross the altar stands. The choir has been preserved unchanged, not least because of its frescoes. The Romanesque windows in the bell tower are also remarkable.
When the four church bells ring out in common song, even the murmur of the nearby Grosswasser falls silent. They invite you into the church for a reflective moment or for a walk through the silent yet meaningful cemetery. The present church was consecrated in October 1968. It is dedicated to St Mark the Evangelist, whose feast we celebrate on 25 April.
