lake Hopschu

Lake Hopschusee, nestled amidst the picturesque landscape of the Simplon Pass, is a real tip for nature lovers and hikers. The mountain lake at 2,048 metres above sea level delights with its crystal-clear water, surrounded by lush meadows and majestic mountains. Reachable on a leisurely walk from the pass road on the Simplon Pass, Lake Hopschusee offers the perfect opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy the tranquillity of nature. Benches on the banks of the Hopschusee invite you to linger. Enjoy the fantastic view of the surrounding mountains while listening to the lapping of the water.

The lake is located in the centre of the Simplon-Hopschusee high moor and has been a protected area of national and cantonal importance since 1996. According to information from the Service for Forests, Nature and Landscape, care should be taken not to walk on the lake shore and the surrounding fens, especially in summer when they are teeming with young frogs. Swimming is not permitted in this sensitive and protected area.
