Chamber concert 5

11.08.2025

Part of «Chamber Music Plus»

Arvo Pärt: «Mozart-Adagio» for Clarinet, Violoncello and Piano (1992)
Joseph Haydn: String Quartet C major op. 76 No. 3 («Emperor»)
Cheryl Frances-Hoad: «The Forgiveness Machine» (2010) for Piano Trio
Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Trio B flat major op. 97 («Archduke»)

Duration approx. 105 minutes, incl. short interval

This concert centres on the general dignity of human beings, which is expressed, for example, in the tributes by Arvo Pärt (to Oleg Kagan) and Cheryl Frances-Hoad (to her grandmother) to people at the end of their lives. The change in the notion of social hierarchy is particularly evident in the contrast with the works of Haydn and Beethoven, who pay tribute to aristocratic dignitaries with the two popular works («Emperor Quartet» and «Archduke Trio»).
