The first kilometres from Brig to Visp follow the route of the Rhone River. Just after leaving Visp, the road splits to the left in the direction of Saas Fee and Zermatt. Then you climb a narrow valley, known for its dry micro-climate to the Moosalp pass. This climb will take you through unexpected landscape around every bend. After a quick visit back into the Rhone Valley, the last climb takes you into the Val d’Anniviers to the finish at St-Luc.

The first climb of the stage is quite difficult, but probably one of the most beautiful in the region. On the climb to Moosalp, you will discover stunning scenery and untouched landscapes that will make you enjoy every kilometre of effort. The descent into the villages of Zenhäausern and Bürchen will leave you feeling suspended over the Rhone Valley. As you pedal towards Sierre, you pass by the Pfyn Forest, a nature reserve with some unique vegetation. Entering the Val d’Anniviers is not easy, but the switchbacks that take you up to Niouc are worth the effort! Once the first section of the climb is conquered, the road is less steep along the side of the rocky valley until Vissoie. But the last kilometres leading to St-Luc will require some leftover strength in the legs.
