Suonenwanderung Bärgeri

  • start: Schallberg, post bus stop
  • destination: Holzji, post bus stop

From Schallberg (bus stop) you walk down to the Grund, where Ganterbach, Taferna and Nesselbach unite to form the Saltina. At the Undre Schallberg you cross the course of another, disused suone, the Breieri. From the bottom you ascend to Alp Unners Nesseltal, where the Bärgeri begins. You hike along the Suone to Wurzukapälli and descend to the end of the Suone in Wickert. From Wickert you reach Holzji (bus stop).

The Bärgeri-Suone starts at the Nesselbach and is fed by it. From there it flows along the flank of the Glishorn in the direction of Brig. The Bärgeri is a very old river: it was already known in 1327. From 1930, the suone was moved to tubes. It was shut down in 1993 and only restored in 2003. Since then the Bärgeri flows again in summer over longer distances in an open canal. On two sections, wooden jugs were laid in traditional construction. Along the way you will find information boards on the history of the Suone.
