The Rosswald cable car takes you to the Alpe Rosswald at 1800 m. Once at the top, there is a short climb up the Rosswald road. You follow the forest road, which leads you in a constant ascent to Alpe Schmidmatte. A rapid descent follows in the direction of Gantertal, past alpine meadows and individual alpine huts. Follow the forest road to Schalbett. After the wayside shrub on Napoleonsstrasse, turn right and follow the trail back to the starting point. A second bike trail leads from the mountain station directly downhill. Here you will find the route description of the Rosswald Trail.

Rosswald, valley station
Starting from the mountain station at Rosswald, you ride your bike eastwards to Alpe Schmidmatte (before Stafel). The first few metres on the flat forest road serve as a warm-up. The trail branches off to the right of the road at Schmidmatte. The rapid descent via Eisten ends on the forest road in the Gantertal above the Simplonpass road. Follow the road to Schallberg, where you turn left onto the trail. Now there is a section on an asphalted side road. Follow this road until you reach the junction with the old Napoleon road. A few metres after the wayside shrine, the trail branches off to the right. Follow the flow trail until you can see the valley station.
The mountains are a place of pleasure to be shared and respected, offering space in which to meet up and share unforgettable moments, whether by bike or on foot. For all outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy them properly, it is essential that mountains are shared in a way that respects both Nature and agriculture. Respectful behaviour enables everyone to enjoy their hobby in the best possible conditions. Find out about the recommendations and rules in place. When planning, take into account participants’ fitness level and ability. All riding is at one’s own risk.
Our recommendation: technically perfect bike, helmet, gloves and bell, suitable clothing depending on the weather (always bring rain protection), drink and food.
