St. Ursula Monastery

In 1799, in the turmoil of the French Revolution, the sisters had to leave their convent. They flee to the mountains: to the Simplon Pass and partly to Italy. 1800 Reunification of the community and rebuilding of their work in 1848.
After the end of the Sonderbund War, difficulties again: Secularisation of the estates, the number of sisters is limited. In 1853, the State of Valais again entrusted the Sisters with the training of primary school teachers.
