The name Geschinen, derived from the Latin word "cascina" (cheese dairy), indicates the first settlement in the area. The village was first mentioned in a document in 1386. The enclosed village lies in the spandrel of the valley slope and the large Münstiger debris cone.
A red information pillar stands on the village square near the Baschi monument. It serves as the starting point for the Geschinen culture trail. Free brochures for the autodidactic guided tour of the village are available in a compartment. They contain historical background and information on the corresponding buildings and structures on the tour.
The Münster + Geschinen cultural trails were initiated by the association Kulturweg Münster-Geschinen. Since its founding in 2006, it has been promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Upper Pomeranian villages of Münster and Geschinen. The association relies on numerous locals as well as many guests of our region. More than 100 members support the activities of the association.
