From the train station in Brig, drive via Spital to the Saltinabrücke bridge. Before the Saltina bridge, turn right uphill and follow the Neue Simplonstrasse. After about two kilometres, stay in the right lane to reach Lingwurmstrasse.
Continue straight ahead on Lingwurmstrasse for two kilometres, crossing Gewerbestrasse and rejoining Alte Simplonstrasse. At the signpost leading to Termen, Simplon (Neue Simplonstrasse), continue straight ahead to stay on Alte Simplonstrasse.
You continue cycling straight ahead, past the Rosswald valley station, until you reach a junction to the Rosswald.
A few metres after this turn-off, a path leads up to the left to avoid the busy Simplon road.
The road sometimes runs above the Simplon road and sometimes you ride under it. You do not cross the Grosse Ganterbrücke bridge. Continue down into the valley until you reach the old Ganter bridge. After a short climb you reach the main road and you now ride along the New Simplon Road up to the Simplon Pass.
Now follows a long section up to the Simplon Pass along the national road. This section cannot be bypassed.
On the Simplon Pass at the Hotel Monte Leone, turn right onto the mountain alpine road. Drive past the old Spittel and the Chluismatte until you reach Maschihuis. Here you cross under the national road, turn onto it and after about 100 metres turn right again. You will now reach Egga. On the old Simplon road you reach Simplon Dorf.
Below Simplon Dorf, turn left and drive via Chluise. Above Gabi you return to the national road. Follow this to Gabi and through the Gondo Gorge to Gondo.
